Great place to escape Waikiki

Review submitted: March 27, 2016

Review from: Val and Joan from New York City

Date of Stay: March 2016

we wanted to stay away from Waikiki so we could experience real Oahu. The Kanoehe area is perfect! That side of the island is the prettiest and so close to everything. The cottage is attached yet separate from the owners house and has its own separate entrance and patio area. If you need the owners, they are there and ready to help, but otherwise you can simply come and go as you please. There is a small living room and kitchen, all that we needed since we were out all day. The bedroom is a good size and so quiet. We awoke each morning to the sound of birds in the surrounding trees. The little patio is in front of the cottage, road side. There is traffic noise but just sort of a whoosh, whoosh as cars go by. The patio itself is surrounded by trees and lots of birds. The cottage is great value and location. Highly recommend!

Quiet relaxing stay

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at Bay Drive Cottage so much. This furnished unit had the basics that we needed to cook our own meals when we wanted but was close enough to both Kaneohe and Kailua that we could easily go out for a meal. The evening breezes kept the bedroom cool enough that we did not need to use the air conditioning. The patio was a definite plus. We could dine there or just relax. Off-street parking (behind a security gate) was another bonus. All in all, a great deal.

Review from: David "Bruce" Ayres, 111 from Winston SAlem , NC

Date of Stay: January 2015

Found the "cottage" clean and well cared for. The Furniture was fine and bed very good. The Bath - shower only - was fine.
Kitchen was comfortable a well stocked with tools needed.
The ROAD NOISE was (all hours) unacceptable to us and we live on a busy street in Winston , near a hospital.
We would warn renters about the noise.
We would not stay at this cottage again.

Great week at the cottage. Perfect accomodation.

Review from: FamilyTraveller from Damascus, OR

Date of Stay: 06/30/12

There were 4 of us that stayed here from 6/30/12 - 7/5/12. My wife and I and our 2 small children (10 mos. old and 3.5 yrs. old). The property owners live in the unit attached to the cottage and were very accommodating and were not intrusive in the least bit. I was super excited at how private the setup was. They´ve set it up such that you really do have your own little oasis on the patio. There is a small fountain that runs and provides some flowing water ambiance along with the natural sounds of the wide range of birds every morning. The entire home/cottage is also protected by a large electronic gate. The inside of the unit was more spacious than the pictures seemed to give it credit for in my opinion. We felt quite comfortable with the space provided. We had our baby in a pack-´n-play in the bedroom, and our son slept on a cushioned mattress that the owners left for us. The mattress for my son was already dressed with clean sheets and extra blankets etc. The owners were also aware that my son loved trains, and thus they happened to have a small wooden train set that they left for him to play with while we stayed there (very nice gesture). As for the kitchenette, it was setup very well. There were more small appliances than we could have ever used while we were there for a week (toaster, toaster oven, hot plate, and several more that I can´t seem to think of). Full size refrigerator was super clean and nice to have for us to store food in while we were there. The owners also left us a small cooler which we used every day while we were there going out on small excursions (though they offered larger coolers if we needed/wanted them). The shower was cool. It had a nice aftermarket shower head and a detachable wand as well. We used the wand to help bathe our baby since there was no bathtub. It was fine. We knew this before we signed up for the week. Kailua beach was within 5 minutes of the unit, and we made several trips to this beach while we were there. Overall our impressions when we walked in the unit were excitement at the deal we had scored, and we left feeling the same way we entered (very pleased). We would definitely recommend this to other users and family/friends looking to stay in a place further away from the hustle/bustle of the Waikiki madness as we did. Great experience!
